Blooms in the Desert is a piece of stone art created using picture sandstone from Kanab, Utah which is inlaid with rare mineral specimens. The tiny crystal on the left is one of the Tabasco geodes from Zacatecas, Mexico which are the tiniest geodes in the world. The electric yellow brucite crystals from Pakistan are an extraordinarily rare color which reminds one of the yellow blooms on prickly pear cactus. The “prickly” green crystals are beautiful malachite from central Africa.
